CMAT 2018 – Common Management Admission Test

CMAT 2018 – The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) conducts the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) for admission to the management programmes of over 1000 management institutes. CMAT 2018 will be held in a computer-based mode in the fourth week of January 2018. The test takers are required to attempt 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and 180 minutes will be allotted to complete the test. Each correct answer will carry 4 marks while 1 mark will be deducted for wrong every answer. The questions will be equally divided into 4 sections, which are Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness. The CMAT result will be released in the second week of February 2018. The notification and the application process is expected to start from the second week of October 2017. The application form will be available in online mode only and candidates must fill and submit the same within the last date. Only the candidates who have applied within the last date will be able to appear for the entrance test. CMAT 2018 Important Dates

Until the year 2015, the CMAT exam was conducted twice in a year. However, now it is held only once a year. CMAT 2018 will be held in January 2018. The candidates who wish to appear in the exam must keep a track of the CMAT important dates. This will ensure that they don’t miss any deadlines. The table given below provides a tentative schedule of the exam. This table will be updated once the official notification is released by AICTE.

CMAT Application Form 2018

The candidates who wish to appear for CMAT 2018 will be required to fill the application form online. The application process, which is likely to start in October 2017, comprises three stages –
  • In the first stage, the candidates need to do self-registration by entering few basic details. The candidates must check all the details carefully before submitting. Once submitted, the candidates will not be able to edit the information on this page.
  • In the second stage, the candidates need to pay the application fee. It can be paid online using Credit Card/ Debit Card / Net Banking. Alternately, the candidates can also pay the fee through cash at SBI bank branches.
  • In the third stage, the candidates need to enter and submit the remaining details. After the final submission, the data entered cannot be edited.

CMAT Application Fee 2018

As mentioned above, the candidates need to pay the application fee while filling the application form. The application fee details are as follows –
  • General Category – Rs. 1400/- (Bank charges extra)
  • Reserved Category – Rs. 700/- (Bank charges extra)

CMAT Syllabus 2018

In CMAT syllabus, a wide variety of topics are covered. The MBA aspirants who are planning to appear for CMAT 2018 must focus on all the topics. Here are the main topics from which the questions are asked in the different sections of CMAT exam –
  • Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation – Ratio & proportion, algebra, simple & compound interest, work & time, probability, mensuration etc.
  • Logical Reasoning – Analogy test, inferences, cause and effects, sequencing, ranking tests, linear arrangements, number series, coding & decoding etc.
  • Language Comprehension – Synonyms & antonyms, sentence correction, idioms & phrases, grammar, one-word substitution, paragraph completion etc.
  • General Awareness – Current awareness, history, culture, literature, geography, economics, sports, Indian constitution etc.

CMAT Participating Institutes 2018

CMAT scores are accepted by over 1000 AICTE-approved institutes that offer MBA, PGDM and other management programmes. These include both government and private institutes. These institutes release their individual cutoff scores. The candidates who meet these cutoffs marks are eligible for the next rounds. National Institute of Technology (Durgapur), Birla Institute of Technology (Mesra), Jaipuria Institute of Management (Lucknow), Institute of Rural Management (Jaipur), KIIT School of Management (Bhubaneswar) are some of the well-known institutes where the candidates can seek admission on the basis of CMAT 2018 scores.

CMAT Selection Procedure 2018

The selection procedure of CMAT differs from institute to institute. The institutes that accept CMAT scores release their individual cutoffs. The candidates who meet the cutoff marks are invited for the pre-admission rounds that may comprise Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). Many of the institutes conduct only WAT and PI rounds, while others conduct GD and PI or all the three. Thus, the selection procedure will depend on the institute in which a candidate is seeking admission.
